Explanatory maps

israel2008map1The map on the left shows Israel and what is left of Palestine (the grey areas excluding the Golan Heights) in relation to the countries around them.

Israel and Palestine together are about the size of Wales.

Below you can see a more detailed map showing the 1949 Armistice Line (Green Line), the route of the Israeli Separation Barrier (in black) and Areas A, B and C of the West Bank. Area A is under full Palestinian control although Israel is free to enter for various ‘security’ reasons. Area  B is under Israeli military control, but Palestinian civil control and Area C, 60% of the West Bank is under full Israeli control.  Areas A and B are in the cream colour and area C consists of all the variations from pale to sky blue. The red area around  Jerusalem has been annexed by Israel, but is part of Palestinian territory.


Below is a very rough idea of how the area of Palestine has been whittled away over the years.
